England: Leeds Castle is the residence of the Kings. It is believed that the name of the castle comes from the name of its first owner – the Saxon nobleman Lida (Lydian), who built a wooden fortification on this place in 857. In the 12th century, Robert de Crevecker built a stone fortress on the lake. Since the 13th century, Leeds has been the residence of English monarchs. The castle is sometimes called the “residence of the queens” – after all, Eleanor of Castile and Margaret of France, Queen Isabella and Catherine of Aragon once lived here.Solid areas: 9%
