Taktsang-lakhang (otherwise Taksang-lakhang, Paro Taksang, Taktsang-dzong, Tiger's Nest. famous monastery (lakhang) in Bhutan. It is located in the Dzonghaga Paro near the town of Paro and hangs on a rock 3,120 m high, 700 m above the level of the Paro Valley.The monastery (in its modern form) was founded in 1692 under the ruler (Druk Desi) Gyalce Tenzin Rabji, although the caves were used for meditation since early times.19 April 1998, the monastery almost completely burned down, several monks died, due to inaccessibility it was impossible to provide urgent assistance.
