Lezginka is a Lezghin folk dance, widespread throughout the Caucasus.
The Lezginka won world love in 1935, when a team of dancers from the Z. Paliashvili Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theater went to the World Folk Dance Festival. The ensemble made a splash: “The whole hall roared with delight. The prim, restrained Englishmen forgot about etiquette and shouted "bravo" with all their might, - wrote the newspaper "Evening Tbilisi".
