Artist Emile Vernon (1872-1919) French painter Emile Vernon was born in Blois, France. He was a student at the School of Fine Arts in Tours, and later moved to Paris to study with the eminent master Auguste Trufem. In 1898, Vernon participated in the exhibition of fine and decorative arts in Tours and the same year for the first time exhibited in the French Salon (Salon des Artistes Francais) in Paris, where he will regularly exhibit until 1913. The artist paints floral still lifes and landscapes, but he specializes in genre scenes and portrait painting. In 1899, Vernon decorated the curtain of the stage and the dome of the Chatellerault Theatre in Nevers, and received numerous commissions for decorative painting. In 1904 he exhibited at the Royal Academy in London. He lived and worked in Paris and London. His portraits of charming girls and pretty children are especially famous and recognized.
