The Shire (in a number of translations - Hobbitshire, Lodge, Hobbiting, Zaselye, Edge) is a country invented by J. R. R. Tolkien, described in books devoted to Middle-earth. It is inhabited exclusively by hobbits. Hobbiton Village was specially created for the filming of the Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit.
