The Assumption Cathedral (the official name is the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin) is the largest Orthodox church of Astrakhan. It is located on the territory of the Astrakhan Kremlin. Built in 1699-1710 under the leadership of stone master Dorofei Myakishev; construction was supervised by Metropolitan Sampson. the Spensky Cathedral is considered one of the best examples of Russian church architecture of the early XVIII century and is the only one of the preserved architectural temple complexes in Russia, where the temple and Lobnoye place are connected.Solid areas: 26%
