The Nile River in Africa is the largest river system in the world. The word "Nile" comes from the Greek name of the river "Nylos" The river originates on the East African plateau and flows into the Mediterranean Sea. In the upper reaches receives large tributaries - El-Ghazal (left) and Achwa, Sobat, Blue Nile and Atbara (right).
