Не знаю, может и утонуть зависит от отношения массы рюкзака к занимаемому им объёму. см. закон Архимеда.

Практика показывает, что у нормального туриста рюкзак забит консервами (не на 100 % конечно) и не сможет выполнить роль спасательного круга. А без этого рюкзака выплыть конечно легче будет.
